About Me
I’m Chris, founder of Back to Fresh Ltd and lifelong car enthusiast.
My love for cars started back in 1986, on the drive home from play school with my mum. Most days we’d pass a black Porsche 911 Turbo parked on Aylesbury Street in Swindon. One day, my mum decided to pull over for a closer look. The owner came out, invited me to sit inside, and he started the engine. That moment sealed it, I became a car and a Porsche fan for life.
Growing Up with Cars
Cars have always been my passion. I grew up watching Top Gear, Fifth Gear, Motorsport and reading Fast Car Magazine, Max Power, and more.
When I finally got behind the wheel, money was tight, so I bought the best spec I could afford, a British Racing Green 1998 Rover 114 GTa. I loved it. I added a cherry bomb exhaust, lowered it, and added a boot setup with two JL Audio 12” subs, 6x9s, and a head unit BUT modifications were expensive. Cleaning was affordable and transformative. The rest was weekly car care using the two-bucket method and Halfords products, especially Green Turtle Wax Colour Magic with the free chip stick. I was hooked.
From Weekend Warrior to Pro Detailer
I spent 25 years in electronic manufacturing, always dreaming of turning my weekend detailing into a profession.
Back to Fresh was born from my love of cleaning the things I care about most, cars and trainers. In the early months of 2025, I stopped saying “what if” and committed fully. I invested time, money, and energy to build something real.
I’m certified by the UK Detailing Academy, fully insured, and equipped with professional grade tools. I’ve joined the International Detailing Association (IDA) and created a page explaining what it means and why it matters. My goal is to grow quickly, become more eco-conscious, invest in a bigger van for off-grid capabilities, and maybe even enter into motorsport if the opportunity arises. By 2030, I plan to operate both mobile and unit based setups, each designed around efficient, eco-forward systems that reduce waste and raise the bar for sustainable detailing.
Life Outside of Detailing
Away from Back to Fresh, I’m lucky to have a supportive and driven girlfriend, Bronte, who’s building her own dog grooming business, Bark & Bubble by Bronte, based in Calne. She’s passionate about dogs and created her logo around our own dogs, Alfie (Shih-Tzu/Lhasa Apso) and Mabel (Tweenie Dachshund).
We share a love for motorsport and attended our first Silverstone race in 2021, the unforgettable showdown between Lewis and Max. Bronte loves watching races with a coffee or cider, and I love sharing those moments with her.
I’m also a proud Dad to Ella-Rae, who’s into photography, Castle Combe Action Days, and Concours House car marque days.
She’s a true Lando Norris fan and knows enough about Formula 1 to have deep conversations about the latest news. When she was little, she’d help me clean cars, especially eager to help with the snow foam part! We still love judging our own “show and shine,” competitions, picking our top three and debating why they made the cut. Like me, she’s a Porsche fan. One day Ella, we’ll get one.
